Integrate Stage Lighting Control
Provide an optional service that allows the user to preset stage lighting programs for each song or each individual slide. This would help newer churches or smaller church control their stage lighting without having to purchase a separate DMX board or computer to run the software. The lighting option would require a DMX computer adapter (purchased separately) that would integrate with Proclaim. In the edit mode of Proclaim, if the lighting package was added, an Edit Lights selection would be available that would allow the user an opportunity to preset a lighting mood for each slide or group of slides. Then when On Air, the lights will correlate with each slide or group of slides.

I recommend making Faithlife Proclaim directly compatible with ENTTEC® Open DMX USB and DMX USB Pro for the purpose of controlling DMX512 on the fly during a Presentation. As of 7 October 2018 no institutional-grade DMX512 installed lighting controller can take MIDI input - a major concern for architectural lighting - so a native DMX512 interface is a necessity.

We currently are accomplishing this with Proclaim's MIDI control signals. We have a USB dongle - Arduino module - DMX. We have scenes programmed into Proclaim that provide for certain moods, so we just set those for each service item...works great! I'll try to have the guy that built the hardware solution with info in this comment thread.

Is this something that now works? If so, how?

Nice work on this - I was glad to see the MIDI integration, I can't wait to put it to good use!

Great idea! I was hoping for something like this. We currently use MyDMX from American DJ and their USB to DMX hardware. What would be great is if the ProClaim media had two types of scenes that had the same colors as the media: 1- static, 2- looping with the ability to customize the scene, at first at least in the speed of the loop and fade transition settings and later a build you scene option. I think integration with the media library is where the value is... that or have it work similar to products like dreamscreentv.com where based on certain sample areas of the screen the surrounding leds produce the same color, this type of solution could allow the user to associate groups of led fixtures to user defined areas of the output screen, then no matter what media or content is used the right lighting colors are used. I am Willy to work closely with the dev team and/or beta test.

I agree with Rogue_Danars statement regarding DMX control being a 'ground up' design of a lighting control solution and perhaps a burn on resources however, if it were possible to integrate DMX (or better yet ArtNet) into Proclaim using an off the shelf lighting control software package, then this would dramatically reduce the cost of installation to churches.
Essentially taking the hardware requirements down from a lighting control desk with Midi integration, or a PC with lighting software and Midi/DMX interfact... down to a simple Artnet to DMX adaptor that can live on the LAN network and receive ArtNet commands from Proclaim and send these out to multiple DMX universes.
A cost saving of potentially hundreds of dollars. note that ArtNet/DMX nodes are around $50 these days.
Basic scenes is probably sufficient for any church that isn't investing in a lighting desk and operator anyway and soft fades between scene A and B is not too much of a challenge and could even be linked to the fade rate of the slides.
All just IMHO and I very much appreciate that there are many points of view on how this could be approached.

One suggestion I would add is in addition to or instead of DMX commands, would be to have it send MIDI signals. Most lighting control software can accept MIDI signals.
The trouble with just sending DMX is that while you could change color with it, there would be no transition. In order to fade between colors for example, it would need to "understand" what each channel controls; otherwise with anything beyond 3 channel RGB fixtures (and the like), it wouldn't be able to properly fade.
In effect, to do this, Proclaim would need to design lighting software from the ground up. It's not impossible, but it'd be reinventing the wheel for no gain. A much more reasonable alternative would be to collaborate with a lighting company to integrate with their existing software (QLC+, ShowXpress, MyDMX etc.) and trigger scenes that way. It makes it easier for them, and likely for the end-user as well (usually software designed for a specific purpose is far better than a feature being added to software designed for something else).
The other alternative would be to send MIDI, which is much easier to do, since it's simply sending a signal to cue lighting software (or whatever else), and letting that software do the heavy lifting.

This is awesome! I already manually change colors to match slides, but to automate this would be heaven! Specially the songs about "Love" to make the stage lights Red/Pink, GREAT idea!

Now this may be the best idea yet!!!!!! Please make this happen. We are a small church that is starting to grow after years of no growth. I am slowly able to bring new technology in but, it is not always easy to train people.
We are wanting to add some LED lighting to create mood but training people on a another board would be hard. If some how that was integrated into Proclaim.....Well let me just say I would love you. -

100% agree! Keep thinking this. Would be a fantastic tool, to be able to set lighting for slides so it all matches up quickly would be invaluable!
Though I imagine it would require a fair amount of extra processing power!
