SDI Output
Currently for distributing video to our projectors we output via HDMI and convert to SDI. The additional converter naturally adds several more possible points of failure, and adapters historically can be rather unreliable.
I'd love to see support for direct output via SDI; basically support for video output with something along the lines of a BlackMagic DeckLink Duo or Quad. It would allow for fewer points of failure, a simpler rig overall, and generally more stability.

Can we get the status of this request updated?
It was implemented in 3.1.0.0072 on June 16, 2021
We currently use SDI with Proclaim and it seems to work.
But it sounds like SDI support is only for BlackMagic cards... perhaps there is interest in supporting other SDI ouput cards? -

A heads up to anyone interested. You can download some kind of NDI studio software that lets you map NDI outputs to physical SDI ports. So you would run that software in the background on the same computer as Proclaim and then no other part of your system would need to know about NDI. Worked in my testing, but it was a little glitchy. Think it had to do with Proclaim’s NDI implementation rather than the studio software, but not sure. Bug fixes may help things.

Hi guys. Is this idea going to be implemented? Having the possibility to output through a BMD Decklink card to input to an ATEM Switcher is a must these days.

This is something that really needs to be implemented. We have a lot of keynotes and so use macOS as our main OS and now that they’re killing off eGPUs we are really limited on video outputs. Bought a decklink duo2 and can’t use it... NDI is awesome but the capital to convert everything over is insane.

This is definitely something that would bring Proclaim to the next level and make it a more worthy competitor to other presentation software out there.

Any news on this? We are currently using dongles to output 3 displays, with slides, foreground, and confidence monitor, but the dongles sometimes fail so we would like to use an external card like the Decklink Duo 2 to output to our ATEM.

The more I look into this the more I cannot believe this isn't something Proclaim supports. Jake Whipple said it best. IP based video has it's purposes, but ATEM is all SDI. I would end up needing NDI->SDI converters which are clumsy because you have to configure them based on NDI name and hope no one changes the broadcast name. And using a video card with quad outputs just means more DP->HDMI and HDMI->SDI converters. Being able to use my Decklink card to run slides, slides with no background (for lyrics overlay), and confidence monitor would be amazing.

We just bought a Decklink Duo 2 thinking we'd be able to use it to add a confidence monitor. Went into the Settings thinking I would see the SDI outputs as displays and they're not. Am I correct in assuming from this thread that Proclaim can only use displays that Windows recognizes as video card outputs? If so what does everyone do so they can have 3-4 hardware outputs? Just buy more video cards to support this?

We need hardware-based SDI outputs. NDI is useless with all the latency it introduces. I want to be able to use our BMD Decklink cards. How are you going to output NDI to a TV or a distribution system? You can't input NDI into a video switcher such as the BMD ATEM, which tons of churches are using.

I would say this is even more important now than ever. A lot of churches are using Blackmagic ATEM switchers for livestreaming during quarantine. SDI outputs from Proclaim (using Decklink PCI cards) to feed into the switchers would be absolutely wonderful! Plus, adding the ability to use to capture functionality would be huge for video input into Proclaim!

SDI is all in hardware so check your graphics card if you can select that as an output. So NDI software output would be great instead.

Direct NDI would also be incredibly useful.
