Convert presentation images to content pages
My church does not have the money to purchase Micro Soft products. Instead we use Open Office.
We produce our presentation in Open Office Impress and then convert it to PowerPoint in order to upload it. Since we do no have PowerPoint our only option is to convert it to images. This process works great except that at times we need to have videos or music embedded in the presentation.
Several years ago I was a programmer. I have taken this into consideration when developing a solution to this challenge.
SOLUTIONS:
Option 1. Change Proclaim to include transfer of control to Open Office Impress.
In my opinion, it would be too expensive and time consuming to have Proclaim software link to Open Office Impress.
Option 2. When importing a presentation, we are given the option to convert to images or transfer control. As stated earlier, transferring control will not work if one does not have PowerPoint. However, an option to not only convert to images but also the option to create individual “Content” tabs for each image would solve this problem. This will allow users to break into the presentation and add a video or music. Since the software is already converting to images it would not take much programming code to save each image separately.
I would suggest a renaming mask using the file name hyphenated with three digits for example
tile one = filename001
tile two = filename002 etc.
This would help keep the images in order.
